_ If you’ve been following my blog for a while, you’ll be familiar with the notion that fat is not a feeling.
So what do you feel when you’re feeling fat? Pity. Shame and pity, for yourself. Because you hate fat. The way to stop feeling fat is to stop hating fat. Fat is necessary for your health. If it were possible to remove all fat, it would still be an incredibly bad idea. You cannot be both healthy and fat-hating. And I’m not talking about some kind of secret internal good fat. I’m talking subcutaneous belly fat. Ass and thighs. The fat that you can see, that you don’t like – that fat is necessary. Oh, but not so much! If only it were a little bit less! Where do you draw the line? Fat-hatred knows no lines. Read Part One. Part Two. Read Fat Truth.

Thanks so much Lael! I'm a little in awe of how many layers there are to these things, but I have a few mantras to remind me of what's actually important to me, and they help protect against the socially-sanctioned body-hating shaming propaganda.
